Technology

Alternative energy vehicles today have been developed for over a century, and within their long history, technologies played several key characters in the upgrading processes. The importance of technologies is much more obvious in recent years than it several decades ago. Today, people know autopilot, all-wheel drive, supercharger, and many terms of advanced technologies. However, have these technologies contributed to the development of alternative vehicles? Or, sometimes they create more consumption?
Hybrid electric generator, one of the most important technologies in the hybrid electric vehicle history. Before the invention of this generator, all hybrid electric vehicles were plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, which means they all need to be charged once they run out of their electricity in the battery. But after Toyota Prius released a decade ago, the generator can charge itself if the engine is running. Today, most hybrid electric vehicles have only one battery that drives the generator, which is fine for most cars. But as hybrid sports car coming out, such as Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Porsche 918, they have equipped with at least two generators which can produce much more power and torques on tracks.
For electric vehicles, the batteries in electric cars charge the generator and the generator drives the electric motor which is the “engine” of the vehicle. The electric motor is commonly set as one, but some car makers crazily put four motors under the hood of an electric vehicle. Also, the number of battery started at one and has reached 5 now in most electric vehicles, so the range of fully charged EVs expends and electric accessories like navigator, DVD player, Backup camera are able to be added in the car.
